Welsh Conservatives have hailed the UK Government’s plan to boost transport upgrades in Wales
Following Sir Peter Hendy’s Union Connectivity Review, the UK Government has committed £20 million towards transport upgrades, which includes improved rail connectivity between the North coast of Wales and England, as well as rail improvements in South-east Wales.
The UK Government will also consult on cutting air passenger duty on internal UK flights.
Welsh Conservative shadow economy and transport minister Russell George MS said:
“The past year has seen severe pressures on people’s jobs and businesses in Wales.
“Today’s bold proposals would see significant expansion and improvements in our transport infrastructure, which is critical in ensuring Welsh jobs and businesses bounce back after the pandemic.
“Welsh Conservatives will build a better Wales and improve our nation’s infrastructure by working constructively with the UK Government, not against it.”
