Today, we have announced £95 million investment for two new offshore wind ports in the Humber region and Teesside – creating 6,000 new jobs in the North and putting the wind in the sails of our new green industrial revolution as we build back greener.
• The offshore wind sector is a major British industrial success story and last year the Prime Minister made a green pledge to provide enough energy from offshore wind to power every home in the UK by 2030.
• Setting us on the path to meet our pledge, we are investing £95 million in two new offshore wind ports to be constructed in the Humber region and Teesside, with GE Renewable Energy already confirmed to build a new factory at the new Teesside port. This investment is creating 6,000 new, green jobs in the North and producing the clean, cheap energy we need to power our homes and the economy.
• This investment is a vital boost to our new green industrial revolution, building the next generation of offshore wind and creating green jobs, helping us to build back greener.
