OVER 33 MILLION
people have received a vaccine so far across the United Kingdom
The latest in our Covid-19 response:
• We have administered a total of 43.4 million vaccines across the UK, helping to cut infection rates and reduce the spread of the virus. We have now vaccinated 3 in 5 adults across our United Kingdom including 60 per cent of those aged 45-49.
• We have offered vaccinations to everyone in the nine highest priority groups – a significant milestone in our vaccination programme. This means over 33 million people have been given the precious protection vaccines provide against Covid-19 and that we can now move forward with completing essential second doses and making progress towards our target of offering all adults a vaccine by the end of July.
• Over 10.4 million people have received their second dose, meaning those most vulnerable to the virus now have the best possible protection. 19 out of 20 who have had a first dose have come forward for their second jab, meaning that almost 1 in 5 of all adults have now had a second dose.
• We have created a new Antiviral Task Force to identify new medicines and treatments to reduce transmissions and speed up recovery. Building on our world leading efforts of pioneering new Covid treatments, our new taskforce will work to identify and deploy innovative Covid-19 treatments as early as the autumn - searching for the most promising medicines that can be taken at home and will support their development through clinical trials.
• We have introduced regular rapid testing across England to complement our vaccine rollout – further helping break the chains of transmission. Nine in ten pharmacies are now distributing free rapid lateral flow tests for people to collect and use at home, providing an additional route to twice-weekly, rapid-testing for everyone without symptoms.
Vaccination figures are now available for the number of people vaccinated in each constituency and can be found here.
